Interests & Hobbies:

Dr. Park first became interested in pursuing a career in oral surgery after returning from a mission trip, where he was given the opportunity to shadow professionals in different occupations, including people in surgical aspects of medicine. Once he was introduced to oral surgery, he quickly determined it was the right match for him.

As an experienced oral and maxillofacial surgeon practicing in Utah, Dr. Park continues giving back to the community through various local organizations, including the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Dr. Park, along with his colleague at Utah Surgical Arts, Dr. Harris, sponsor a walk hosted by the JDRF every year to raise money to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. One year, the doctors were asked to serve as chairmen of the walk, and they successfully raised $25,000 for the foundation. This particular cause is especially close to Dr. Park, as he has a 17-year-old son who lives with Type 1 Diabetes.

Dr. Park and his wife are also involved with Holt International Children’s Services — an adoption agency through which they adopted their own daughter from Korea. The couple adopted their daughter at four months old, and she is now twelve.

For several years, Dr. Park has been an active member of American Youth Understanding Diabetes Abroad (AYUDA) — a non-profit organization that works with local diabetes communities to execute sustainable diabetes programs throughout the world. Through AYUDA, Dr. Park has traveled to the Dominican Republic and Peru, providing oral surgery services to the underprivileged.

Dr. Park is an active member of the men’s organization of his local Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where he helps young men between the ages of 12–18 learn strong values.

When he is not working in the practice, traveling on mission trips or serving the underprivileged, Dr. Park enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. Together, they often take boating trips to Deer Creek, snow ski in Alta or travel across the world. His dream is to one day take a month off to travel the Orient, as his undergraduate major in Asian studies has helped him maintain a strong interest in the culture.

In the long term, Dr. Park aims to provide more complex surgical services for charitable causes to help people achieve outcomes to which they would not otherwise have access.
